Advanced Production Opening statement...

Brief One: A promotion Package for the release of an album, to inside a music promo video, together with two of the following options...

1) A website homepage for the band

2) A digi-pak for the albums release

3) A magazine advertisement for the digi-pak

I decided to choose the two options as they were out of my comfort zones in ability. As I have already created a magazine in my AS foundation production, I felt this was a good way to explore new software and techniques that will come in useful for future media work.

First 5 steps and why?

- How will Planning process and research be constructed and recorded?

I will be recording all my research and development on a Internet blog. After using the blog weekly in my AS foundation project, I was familiar with how to post, create and present information and images. The blog will include researched images of current bands, current artists/band websites, current album covers and current bands promotional video's. These four main researched planning will inspire me and help me gain new and improved ideas for my final products. I will be acknowledging and using new media software, e.g. 'Prezi' to present my ideas and planning process. To also help with further research, as a class we were suggested current A level media blogs to visit and find useful information and things to use and improve on. For example Media school blog site, "Latymer" I will be exploring other students who have created a similar blog that I could research to inspire my ideas for my project.

- The Audience?....Identified how?.... The appeal will be?....

I have decided that my target audience will range from the ages of 15-20 years. I decided upon the 'teen' stage of adolescence, as teenagers look to music as a powerful social force that also taps into an individual’s personal identity, memories and mood. Throughout this project I will feeding back to my target audience presenting them with my plans and idea's and using their opinions to improve. I want to create questionnaires, for example "What was effective about the promotional video?" Which will hopefully aid me into creating an even better video from good use of audience feedback. I will also keep in close contact with the band, GoldBloom for their opinion and idea's as they are around the ages of my target audience and my project is about them as a band so they will have the final say.

- What pitfalls do you know need avoiding?

I feel that what ever useful information that I come across or find throughout my research, to ALWAYS refer it back to this project and my thoughts and opinions. I need to avoid going off on a tangent and stick to what is needed to be said, so that large excess information is not needed.

- Outside agencies to contact?

As a media class we had an apple imac specialist who spent day with us all advising us on using imovie and aiding us with new techniques that we would of not have known how to do or use. I will research useful contacts for example a famous current artist/band to find out more about advertising and promoting their music to the outside world. I would like to find out more about Website design, so I shall find a professional to contact and find out more information as Website design is a new media software that I am not familiar with.
