After using 'Picnik' a free photo editing site, which I had discovered through my AS foundation production, I was able to explore new edits, frames and exposure's to add to my images. I wanted to find a current music band with a 'vintage theme' that had been applied to their images. I came across a current 'Indie' band named 'Little Comets' and used 'Google' to find images of the band. The image which I have selected, has had a 1960's vintage edit used, slightly tinted with an orange/brown colouring. The image has been 'film grained' to add the effect of an 'old picture'. After seeing how the effects turned out I will definitely consider using the edits on my images of GoldBloom.

Post your Pictures on Flickr
Flickr is an image and video hosting online community acquired by Yahoo. The free site allows users to share and embed personal photographs, transferring the images that they embed to blogs and social media.
With all the interactive capabilities on the web these days, digital still photos seem quite ‘Old School’. But we can’t dismiss the power of pictures and the opportunity that photo sharing sites offer to increase the bands online presence.
Keep in mind how important it is to leave a trace of the band and their message in many places where lots of people are gathering online. While youtube, Facebook and Twitter may grab more headlines, there are many millions of people who still actively surf the photo sites.
Reasons to post pictures on photo-sharing sites.
- Enhance your Credibility Images show the band in action doing what you do. Music should speak for itself, but offering visual images that their fans and supporters can enjoy adds another layer of credibility to their career.
- Post photos of the band on stage, in the studio and on the road. Capture the interesting things that the band encounter along, or do in their spare time, to again nurture a closer relationship with online users.
- Expand your Reach. These photo sites obviously give you a place to upload and store your digital photos, so that if you want to use them on your blog or web site, you can simply link to your images on the hosting site instead of messing with uploading them to your own web server.
- Most importantly, most of these sites gives you badges, widgets and feeds that allow you to share your photo ‘stream’ on other popular web sites. That means you upalod images to one site but can share them across several sites.
- Feature Album cover and more. In addition to uploading photos of the band, you can also post images of their album covers, promotional material, etc.
When it comes to places that host still photos on the web, Flickr is the king of the heap. Millions of people post and tag their images on this mega site, which was bought by Yahoo a few years ago. Flickr has free and paid accounts with different feature levels. It’s the main photo site.
I discovered more photo sharing sites, for example ‘Photobucket’, ‘Shutterfly’ and picasa web albums’ however none of the three were as sufficient as Flickr.

After discovering this type of viral technology, I decided that creating a Yahoo account and experiencing how to use flickr with my own images was good practise of using 'new technology' that could also be useful for future use. The site was easily accessible, and images were uploaded within ten minuets. Using a Flickr slideshow will look more aesethically pleasingon my blog, as everything is compacted into one thing, instead of having thirty five pictures scattered on one post taking up a lot of room.
