For more than two decades the Parental Advisory labels have graced tons of CD covers and became one of the most recognizable signs in recent pop culture. According to The Guardian, the plaque has now officially entered the digital realm in the UK. Following concern about the easiness for children to view explicit music content, the Parental logo will be introduced before songs and music videos on services such as Spotify and YouTube. The British music industry organization BPI is responsible for this update. Geoff Taylor, chief executive of the BPI, said following in a statement:
“We think it is important for parents to get the same standards of guidance and information online as they get when buying CDs or DVDs on the high street. We are updating our scheme for the digital age to ensure that explicit songs and videos are clearly labelled.”
The example on the right, is my example of what the album cover would look life I were to use the sign, however GoldBloom have acknowledged their 'younger' target audience and therefore did not make any of their lyrics or video footage explicit.
